About Us....

Martin and Marion Shirran owned and ran the Elite Clinics in Fuengirola, Spain There they used a combination of therapies to successfully treat a wide range of problems. They are the pioneers and trade mark owners of the Gastric Mind Band therapy, Pause Button Therapy and TactileCBT. All of these have received worldwide acclaim. Their first book, Shirrans' Solution the Gastric Mind Band, was published in 2010. Since then, they have divided their time between treating private clients, both in Spain and internationally, and training other therapists. Martin and Marion were both registered in the UK with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council. During 2005 Martin undertook additional training at the School of Psychology at Birmingham University. As a result he gained a primary certificate in R.E.B.T. (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy). He is also a member of the United Kingdom Society for Behavioural Medicine and the International Hypnosis Research Institute. Marion is a Registered Stakeholder in NICE - National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. Additionally, Marion is proud to be involved with the UK government's, All Party Parliamentary Group on Obesity. They both hold Diplomas in Clinical Hypnotherapy. They are also certified and registered with the American Board and British Institute of Hypnotherapy.

The Shirrans developed Pause Button Therapy at their Elite Clinic, where they helped clients with a wide range of psychological problems. Martin and Marion's work has received considerable interest in the world media. And, as a result of this media coverage, they travelled to New York to take part in a Good Morning America TV special.

Dr Sarah Clark

Dr Sarah Clarke is a chartered psychologist with over 10 years experience working in the fields of social, clinical and forensic psychology. She is qualified to administer a range of psychometrics and psychological assessment tools. She is also a member of the British Psychological Society (Divisions of Forensic and Clinical Psychology).

Sarah achieved a First-Class Honours Degree in Psychology, gaining two additional awards of special recognition (for the best research thesis and best graduating student). She then went on to gain a Master's Degree in Psychological Research Methods, and was awarded her PhD in 2007 for Research into Social Psychology. During the course of her postgraduate studies, she worked as a part-time lecturer at the University of Plymouth. She subsequently joined The Open University as an Associate Lecturer on a level two undergraduate psychology module.

In 2012, Sarah joined Martin and Marion to assist develop and disseminate Tactile Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Pause Button Therapy. Sarah also joined Martin and Marion to present details of Pause Button Therapy/TactileCBT at the 2nd International Conference of Time Perspectives. This took place at Warsaw University in Poland.


Dr Theano Kalavana

Dr Theano Kalavana received her PhD in the area of Health Psychology in 2007 from the University of Cyprus. Prior to this, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Philosophy, Education and Psychology, with Specialisation in Psychology at the National and Capodistrian University of Athens, Greece. She subsequently received her Master of Science in Health Psychology from the University of Surrey, UK.

Her main area of research focuses on the contribution of self-regulation cognitions and skills in altering health behaviours. In 2007, as a Fulbright Scholar, she travelled to the USA for her further training on Self-regulation and Health. She completed this training at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Mind-Body Center (PMBC) and the Wellness Institute, Memorial Hospital of Northwestern University Chicago.

Gay Jones

Gay Jones is an educationalist who has specialised in school improvement and change for over two decades. Firstly, she achieved her Bachelor of Education with First Class Honours at Birmingham. She then went on to complete a Master of Arts degree at Warwick University. Gay has been instrumental in developing programmes to raise standards in writing and numeracy. As an example, her work includes transforming learning environments, improving family involvement and implementing emotional literacy strategies. She has also developed and delivered a range of training programmes for staff at all levels.
